  1. How many questions are there in the trader examination?

    The trader exam encompasses 190 questions, broken down into 4 modules. Further information on the modules can be found under Content of examination.

    The candidates have three hours to answer the questions in the trader examination.

  3. Are there exercise questions available to prepare for the trader examination?

    In principle, there are no exercise questions for the actual exam. But as a means of giving candidates an impression of the potential questions, a number of examples from previous tests are available.

    At least 70 % of the questions in each of the four modules must be answered correctly to pass the examination.

    Approximately 60% of the candidates pass the examination on the first attempt; repeated attempts are permitted.

    The trader examination is open to all prospective exchange traders, interested persons from the financial sector, and all private individuals.

    The trader examinations take place in the training facilities of SIX Swiss Exchange in Zurich and London.

  8. How is the examination structured?

    The trader examination is taken on a computer, and most of the questions are multiple-choice. For certain calculation examples in Module 1, "Products and Market Skills", and for certain questions concerning matching rules, the candidate must enter the solution in a text field. For all questions with text fields, an example of how to phrase the response is shown with the examination question.

    All documents associated with the training programme are of relevance for the trader examination.

    The results are provided as soon as the candidate completes the trader examination.

    List of formulas (provided by SIX Swiss Exchange)
    Calculator (non-programmable)

    The trader examination can only be paid by credit card.
