The SXI Family is comprised of sectors that are of particular significance to the Swiss
economy. The sector-index family SXI was launched in 2004 for the purpose of increasing
the liquidity of SWX-listed shares of internationally significant industries. SXI stands
for SWX Special Industry.
The SXI LIFE SCIENCES and SXI Bio+Medtech indices reflect the life sciences industry and
thus one of Switzerland's most prominent sectors. The two indices are open to Swiss and
foreign companies. The weighting of each stock is capped at 10 %,
which means that small and medium-sized companies have a greater impact. Indices in the SXI
Family are free-float-adjusted and calculated both as performance index and price indices.
