| Qiu, a citizen of China, came to the Federal Polytechnic Institute in 1992 on a scholarship. She conducted research in the field of object-oriented software development of computing processes, such as those used in control engineering. Upon successful completion of her doctoral studies, Qiu was hired by a Swiss industrial company and ultimately, after considering a number of job offers, she joined the SWX Swiss Exchange in 2001.
