Prof. Dr. Peter Gomez
Chairman of the Board SIX Group
Prof. Dr. Peter Gomez has been Chairman of the Board of SIX Group since beginning of 2008. He
previously held the same post at the SWX Group since 5 May 2006. Since 2005 he has been the Dean
of the Executive School of Management, Technology and Law at the University of St. Gallen, a
position that he continues to hold. He has been a full professor of business economics since 1990
and headed the university as its rector from 1999 through 2005. Apart from his academic credentials,
he also has experience in the entrepreneurial world. He was a member of the Executive Committees
of Ringier and the Distral Group, as well as a founding partner of Valcor AG, Küsnacht, a consulting
firm specialising in strategic management and M&A.
Dr Urs Rüegsegger has been the CEO of SIX Group since beginning of 2008. Prior to this, he held the
position of Head of the Executive Committee of St. Galler Kantonalbank. He joined the bank in 1993
as Head of Controlling, Accounting and Risk Management and was appointed to the Executive Committee
in 1997. In 2000 he took charge of the IPO project, which was successfully launched in 2001. As Head
of the Executive Committee of St. Galler Kantonalbank he also held various positions with the
Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks since 2001. After completing his business studies at the
University of St. Gallen, Urs Rüegsegger started his career at Swiss Re in the area of IT. He was
deeply involved in the development of commercial applications and the restructuring of Swiss Re's
service branch. He transferred to St. Galler Kantonalbank in late 1993 after assuming financial
responsibility for Audatex, the international subsidiary group.
Christoph Bigger
CEO ad interim SIX Swiss Exchange, CEO ad interim Division Cash Markets
Christoph Bigger was elected member of the management of the SIX Swiss Exchange in December 2006 and
has been ad
interim CEO of the SIX Swiss Exchange since 1 August 2008 as well as Head of the Cash Markets Division
of SIX Group. The companies included in the latter division are the SIX Swiss Exchange,
its London-based subsidiary SWX Europe, and market data provider SIX Exfeed.
Christoph Bigger is also responsible for the Business Development & Operations operating unit.
Christoph Bigger joined the SIX Swiss Exchange in 2004 as Head of Strategic Business Development and was
the responsible project head for the Scoach joint venture, the first Europe-wide securities exchange
organisation to specialise in structured products. His previous professional career led Christoph Bigger
to various management functions at Bank Leu AG, Credit Suisse First Boston and Clearstream Banking
Luxemburg. Subsequently, he joined online broker DAB Bank AG, where he was in charge of the company's
foreign subsidiaries in Paris and Zurich. Christoph Bigger studied business management and jurisprudence,
graduating from the University of Fribourg and being admitted to the bar exam in canton St. Gallen.
